District C is the only one of these former districts in the city still known by this name.
Not everyone is familiar with this part of Utrecht's city center, but if you say "the district behind the Bijenkorf department store," everyone immediately knows what you're talking about. The district has undergone significant development in recent years. The new TivoliVredenburg, the extension of the Catharijnesingel canal, and the arrival of ROOST on the Singel canal have all contributed to this.
