The Startmotor community

Startmotor is more than just living. The Startmotor offers a community living concept for like-minded people between the ages of 18 and 27. Together, our residents form the so-called community, which means that you’ll have the opportunity to broaden your network by meeting many interesting new people once you move in. The specially-designed and fully-furnished coliving spaces are the heart of our community environment. And what’s great about it is that you’ll never feel lonely when at the Startmotor. You’ll always run into someone or a small group, and before you know it, you’ll be having a drink on the rooftop terrace or playing a game of pool together.

The Community Facilities

The community areas are the heart of our community environment. You’ll find a fully equipped coliving space or room suited for your every need on each floor throughout the building — each with its own theme and purpose. Starting on the group floor, you’ll find the Ignite area, our ultimate meet, work and play space equipped with both a pool and ping pong table, a piano and a seating area. Adjacent to it, you’ll find the gym facility. Head past the lifts to the right and towards the back of the building, and you’ll find the entrance to the bike shed, storage area and the shared DIY room.

The studio's

Given the building’s size, we have several studio apartments types, each within a different price and size range. The smallest available options are our studios which are approx—24 m2. The largest properties are our two-bedroom flats which are around 61 m2. Everything else is in between that floor size range.

Location

At Startmotor, you are within a 10-minute biking distance from the hippest neighbourhoods and places in town. First off, you’ve got the Afrikaanderwijk district, where you’ll find the best espresso bar in south Rotterdam – Koffiehandel Pretoria. If Indonesian food is your thing, then head over to Rotterdam’s unofficial king of satay – The Saté-Man. And if you prefer the Vegan lifestyle, cycle over to Sharp Sharp and enjoy a lovely Vegan cake in their urban jungle. They also have beautiful ceramic tableware! For an evening drink and some cultural events, RAAF (Rotterdam-Art-Adventure-Food) is the place to be. Grab an IPA beer and enjoy live music, comedy and workshops. Finally, if you love getting your fresh fruit and veg, fish or meat from local farmers, fishmongers or butchers, then head over to Afrikaanderplein. You’ll find the local market there every Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Relaxing in the city

South Rotterdam has a lot to offer in terms of winding down after a busy day or week. Leave your phone at home and go for a walk in Het Zuiderpark. Grab your bike, and within no time, you’re in the countryside cycling along the Old Meuse river. Or if you fancy being a tourist in your own city, why not head towards the northern river bank and cut through the lovely Katendrecht and Kop van Zuid skyline. Remember all of the lovely places you just read about for food and drinks? That’s right!
