With the departure of the last orphan, both the function and the historical interior of the centuries-old orphanage disappeared. Hendrick de Keyser has restored the complex in phases over the past years, made it more sustainable, and brought back its history as much as possible. The last phase, the south wing, has been delivered. There are six homes available here, including the home at Lindenhof 13.
Restoration
The exterior – facades, frames, and roofs – has been completely restored. Inside, the construction and layout have been renewed, with references to the historical interior. In addition, there has been a strong focus on sustainability: the outer walls have been insulated, monument glass has been installed, and interior walls have been built with wooden frame construction. All units feature modern installations such as underfloor heating, new kitchen, bathroom, and toilet, six solar panels, WTW ventilation, and a heat pump. Thanks to these measures, the homes and the business space are completely gas-free and have at least energy label A+.
Layout Lindenhof 13:
This 97 m² home is located on the first and second floors and is accessed via a shared entrance. Entrance into a long hallway (approx. 7.7 m²), adjacent to a toilet (approx. 1.1 m²), the stairway to the second living floor, and access to the spacious living room (approx. 28.1 m²) with open kitchen (approx. 15.7 m²) and a stair cupboard. Two French doors provide access from the living room to a private roof terrace of approx. 26.1 m². Location:
Lindenhof is located in the historical heart of Schiedam, within walking distance of public transport, the NS station, various shops, and entertainment venues. In the immediate vicinity, paid parking applies. A parking permit can be requested from the municipality.
Outdoor storage and common area:
This unit has its own outdoor storage (approx. 2.7 m²) situated on the ground floor in an outbuilding of the complex. There is also a communal bicycle storage of approx. 39.7 m².
Outdoor space:
