How to respond to a rental property?

You’ve signed up on Pararius – the first step is done! Now it’s time to get active and start responding. We’ll explain how to go about it, step by step.

Step 1: Identify your housing wishes

You probably already have an idea of what you’re looking for, but it helps to write down your requirements clearly – especially if you’re searching with someone else. Think about:

  • The city or neighbourhood where you’d like to live;
  • Your budget: remember the income requirement of roughly three times the basic rent and calculate what you can afford at most;
  • The minimum size of the property;
  • The desired number of rooms, for example bedrooms;
  • Additional preferences such as a balcony, home office, or a favourable energy label.

💡 Already know exactly which type of property suits you? You can set filters for whether you’re looking for a room, apartment, or house!

Step 2: Set up your search correctly 🔍

Once you’re clear about your requirements, you can start setting up your search. Here’s how:

  • Use the search bar to enter your preferred location;
  • Adjust the filters on the left of the page to refine results;
  • Click the green ‘Save search’ button at the top right;
  • Select the ‘Immediate’ option for notifications so you never miss a property!

To receive instant notifications you can use our Pararius+ service. You can set up and manage multiple searches via ‘My searches’ in your profile.

Step 3: Start responding!

Now you’ve set everything up, it’s time to actually respond to rental properties. A few handy tips:

  • Respond quickly as soon as you receive a new property notification;
  • Make sure your rental profile is fully completed;
  • Use the ‘one-click response’ button in the message from Pararius for extra speed;
  • Keep a close eye on your inbox and phone for a reply from the letting agent;
  • If you don’t hear anything, get in touch yourself by email or phone;
  • Start preparing for a possible viewing. Read here how to do that best!

💡 No luck with responding? Then consider broadening your search criteria – it will significantly increase your chances!
