Description

Description

This charming and light-filled apartment is located on a lively and popular street in De Nieuwe Pijp, an area where neighbours, shop owners and restaurant owners know each other. While centrally located and full of character, the apartment sits just far enough from the main tourist crowds.

The apartment is furnished in a classical and cosy style and features antique furniture throughout. Most of the furnishings were acquired from Dutch auction houses, giving the home a warm and authentic atmosphere.

Key Features

  • Offered under a standard Dutch rental agreement with a diplomatic clause (Model C), allowing temporary rent.
  • Available from approximately 6 months up to several years, with the possibility of extension by mutual agreement.
  • Fully furnished.
  • Rent can be agreed inclusive or exclusive of internet & television and gas, water and electricity, depending on the duration of the rental agreement (approximately €250 per month).
  • A parking permit can be applied for (waiting time depends on the Municipality of Amsterdam).
  • Energy label A.
  • Smart thermostat system (Tado) installed.
  • Bright and sunny apartment with balconies on both the east and west sides.
  • Possibility of up to three bedrooms; two rooms may also be used as a home office, guest room or dressing room.

Background information

De Pijp is very popular today but was originally a working-class neighbourhood. As a result, the buildings tend to carry more sound than modern constructions, particularly at higher noise levels. The building is residential, and the walls are not designed to absorb loud late-night noise. If you are coming to Amsterdam with a nightlife-focused, party-oriented or luxury-driven lifestyle — including late-night gatherings or after-parties — this apartment may not be the right fit. It is not intended as a luxury hotel, but as a comfortable, clean and welcoming home. The neighbours on the first and third floors are considerate residents with whom a pleasant and valued relationship exists, which is important to maintain.

The staircase is relatively steep and there is no space on the ground floor for a stroler; therefore, the apartment is less suitable for families with children younger than approximately 2.5–3 years.

The bed in the guest room is adjustable (80–160 cm) and fitted with relatively thin mattresses. It is suitable for guests and children, but less ideal for long-term adult use.

Hygiene: all bedding, including pillows and duvets, is professionally cleaned. Three layers of bedding are always used for both beds and pillows (protector, molton and fitted sheet/pillowcase).

Cleaning is possible every two weeks and is carried out by the same trusted cleaners; approximately €80,- in cash payed by the tenant.

Layout

Entrance

The apartment is accessed via a shared entrance. A fairly steep, straight staircase, divided into two sections, leads to the second floor. Upon arrival, you enter a small hallway, from which you access the open-plan kitchen and living area on the right.

Kitchen & Living Area

The main living space consists of an open-plan kitchen and sitting area with access to a west-facing balcony — a lovely spot to enjoy a glass of wine at sunset.

Master bedroom

Through en-suite doors, you enter the main bedroom, which has a smaller balcony overlooking the street. A pleasant place for a morning coffee in the morning sun. As with any vibrant city location, it is generally quiet, but the apartment may be less suitable for extremely sensitive sleepers.

Children’s Room / Home Office

Adjoining the main bedroom is a cosy room with a desk and Wi-Fi, also suitable as a bedroom for a primary-school-aged child. A child’s bed is not provided as standard; please enquire about the options.

Bathroom

The compact bathroom is accessed from the hallway and is fitted with a loo, walk-in shower, heated towel rail and washbasin.

Guest Room / Teenager’s Room / Dressing Room

Next to the bathroom is a multifunctional room that can be used as a dressing room, guest room or child’s/teenager’s bedroom. This room is located on the west side and overlooks the trees of the inner garden.
